Daughter had a rattle on her TT'S and traced it to snapped front spring. As it has sports suspension spring is dealer only part. But what a pain to get it apart especially as the drop link internal hex rounded off and the pinch bolt on the hub had to be persuaded off the shock.
Still all done now and the spring itself took 5 minutes to refit onto the shock.

I wont buy another new Audi.

It wasn't so much the faults I had with the last one, it was the fact that Audi weren't prepared to do anything about them.

In the end they said "characteristic of the car"

It annoyed me so much I had to sell a car I loved.

I love an Audi, well powerful high spec ones anyway, not keen on base models.

I do quite like the TTS 270 hp and the DSG gearbox so it is quick when let loose but I fell out with it as it was difficult to take apart. Got to give it back to our daughter tomorrow.

A customer turned up at my office in a chipped M5 V10, now that sounded pretty awesome!

The saga continues as just failed MOT with broken spring and weeping damper. Must have missed the spring when I looked in May as it was the last 30mm broken at the bottom. Again dealer only part but the shock is one of these magnetic dampers and stupid money and main dealer only again nearly £300 so I guess daughter will get rid soon as the shocks must be at the end of their life.

All came apart easily enough just waiting for the parts to come in to put it back together.

I am finding the all VAG cars these days are having very early weepage on front shock absorbers, even at around a year old.

I find Audi's a bit bland and underwhelming, if I'm honest. Never had to work on one though...

I did a driving experience and found the Audi R8 V10 to be the most surprising of the cars I drove. It was awesome.

Some of the range are good looking cars but the A3 I think looks a bit bland.

Never driven any though.

I also did one and out of the 4 I drove the R8 was the best. But then I get in my mums Audi A1 and think it's terrible. The seats give me a bad back, they are really bland and basic. We had a right game changing a broken front spring a few months back also, ending up having to get a couple of special tools. The drivers side took ages, then the passenger side just fell apart. It's getting swapped soon for a 1 series convertible.

Daughter is happy again as her TT'S has passed it's MOT after my repairs to spring and shock. I also replaced the rear drop links and painted the rear roll bar as it was looking scabby.
