Good evening all, I recently bought a Z3. With a failed yaw sencor and leaking hardtop roof. Since owning the car I have tried to fix the leak but suspect its not only the join at windscreen. So todat I thought I would locate this yaw sencor. Now for those of you that now about these things your probably saying "No! Wait read up a little 1st!"
So to just to the chase.Door trims off, seats unplugged and removed. Fond the yaw sencor and it looked OK. What didn't look OK were the Temic mrsA3-wpairbag thingamejig. So I unplugged them. This was because under both sides the carpets are sodden! So now I've started to remove the centre consol but can't get it out. It feels secured at the point behind the casset /radio player. So on with getting call the rear plastic away. So hard top off,Ignition on softop closes on the button, roll bar loops out, central luggage storage out. Then at this point it all turned to poo!!!! Because I switched on the ignition to operate the softop again and the ignition just went "click" Have I killed my car?

You've had a big day.

It sounds like you have a car that will not start. The click in the engine bay is the starter solenoid doing its thing correctly. You likely have a flat battery that can not drive the starter motor.

OK, thank you, sounds more positive than disconnecting the air bags has caused an ecu fault. The battery had been on charge all night because yesterday it was completely flat. I think something could be pulling the battery down. Thanks again for your reply

Removing the centre console.
Other than the rear screws, one under the ash tray and two on either side of the foot well
The heater controls (yellow arrow), are on a panel which if I remember have two clips or screws to remove from inside the radio aperture, to release it from the centre console
And there are also two screws ( red arrows) in the radio aperture that hold the top of the console to the underside of the dashboard.

There are also two lugs that push in to the locating holes. (Green arrows)

Dont know about the electrical problem as never disconnected anything other than the switches.

If you turned your ignition on with the seats out you will have triggered the airbag warning light that will need resetting with a code reader. After charging your battery leave it a few hours and get a reading of the voltage. Mine has gone duff and was only reading 10 volts after a few hours so was not even worth putting back in the car.
