I need to track down a vacuum leak in my 3.0..so spurred on by some late night You Tubing I decided to make a DIY smoke test machine.
To be honest it wasn’t dissimilar to a device I made as student for rather different reasons 😉.
To my surprise IT WORKS!. Total cost about 12 quid.

is this the one where you soak it in baby oil?..... or is that a different webpage ? 😆

Good effort .....but did you find your vacuum leak?

Well that was 100% worth doing! ..I went in through the oil filler cap as I wanted to make sure it wasn’t the PCV and that’s the quickest route to it….no sign of smoke there..phew!
The top of the cam cover however was something akin to an episode of Stars in their Eyes. I changed the gasket recently and that stopped the oil leak. All bolts are torqued correctly to 10 NM so I am resisting the urge to tighten the two at the top any more. Wondering if the cover may be cracked or warped. Either way I’ll need to take it off again I guess ☹️
There is nothing else in that area is there ?
