how to remove old gear stick on a 2003 z4

Guys iv seen on utube a guy literally pulling the old gear stick off,but mine is firmly on.Have a nice chrome an d leather one im itching to put on ...any ideas how i could loosen it?

They can be on quite tight but they fo just pull off unless it has been loose and someone has bonded it on .
If that's the case some brut force and ignorance will be the order of the day.

Assuming manual gearbox it is just a case of pulling. Sometimes a previous owner will glue them on because it's becoming loose, and you need lots of pull. We've even got to the stage of having to cut away at the old one and remove it in many pieces!

Be careful that it doesn't eventually come loose and you end up punching yourself in the face...

Still cant make the old worn gear stick budge,a nice leather, and chrome one waiting to be put on !!!cutting it off not an option!

I had a lot of trouble removing the gear knob on my z3. In the end it just pulled off with a lot of effort and trying to twist a little side to side. Best have the roof down and be careful not to hit your self in the face. Its amazing how stubborn they are.

If it's been glued on, pull harder, and don't smack yourself in the face.

cut it wit a dremel tool or hacksaw if it is too stubborn. But you should be able to jus pull it off. Stand in footwells with roof off and use power of you legs to pull it.
