The cost of petrol over here is crazy.

$2.98 a gallon

Highest it's been for years.

Tony.

Still a Billy bargain compared to rip of Britain

Always has been such, even allowing for the smaller US gallon.:(

:arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh::arghh:.....I have two cars to fill up this afternoon, one tank of petrol and one tank of diesel, and will be lucky if its under £100

Still I dont begrudge all the tax paid on fuel and its put to such good uses...like MP expenses, and paying for Brexit consultants !!!!!

Hopefully I’ll put the right fuel in the right car =))

The amount of tax we actually pay is scary.

I'm sure people in the know will correct me but :-

20% on our income over the free limit.

70% ish on fuel?

20% Vat on most stuff we buy goes to government?

Stamp duty when we buy a house.

Death duty when we die, including the new rip off charges for probate.

Council tax

Business rates

Employers contributions

Employees pensions contributions, not a direct tax to the government I know, but governments way of relieving their cost for the elderly.

Car tax/RFL

I'm sure there's many I've missed.

Got the old calculator out @t-tony you are paying 79p per litre still almost half the price of here in uk

Seems expensive tony, we were only paying $2.20 or less, this Feb/March - and that was further west in the sticks

They taking advantage of the retired folks down there :D

Shirl actually saw a station selling at $3.40/gal. the other day.

I have no problem with paying tax. It just really p&@!£'s me off the way the government spends it and how some people view it as a way of life to live off of them.... :banghead:

It never ceases to amaze me how much fuel prices can differ in the US. Even stations next to each other can vary greatly. Unlike the apparent price fixing that goes on over here.

BTW @t-tony surely you mean gas not petrol? You spend enough time over there, I thought you'd almost be native and fluent in the lingo!! ;)
