Very little you can do. I'm guessing you have the S52 engine?

Not much you can do about "squeeze and bang" (other than mapping the bang point and making sure your rings and valves are properly sealed), but "suck and blow" are easily exploited for performance.

The exhaust has quite a lot of back pressure that can be removed. Get hold of an S50 manifold if it's different to an S52 one. They are as good as you can get for the space available. You could ceramic coat them, but this may lead to embrittlement - but you are after bhp, not reliability :).

The induction can be improved by opening up the airbox. I increased my airflow by 10%. You could also try different trumpet lengths - but this would depend on what rpm you want to optimise the engine for.

My #1 recommendation would be to fully service the car and make sure that it rolls freely and runs smoothly.

Maybe its the roads around where I live, but I think my car now has far too much bhp for the Z3 chassis!
