Yep, do know that both were registered in N. London in late 90's.

What happens to a reg if a car is scrapped for eg. and not retained on paper ?

I believe the DVLA would take "ownership" unless it is retained by the original owner.

neither N44 or N444 LLY are held by DVLA, they are either on vehicles or retentions
