After almost changing cars I guess I'm stuck with the old girl. Cant say I'm very sad about that of course. Few jobs in line.
Paint HAS to be done. Gona do a few panels at a time.
Audio was a big issue so sorting that now

I searched and searched for advice on speakers but it gave me a headache every time. I have no idea.
Went the safe route using halfrauds (actually cheapest) and ended up with pioneer TS-R1350S 13cm for the front (straight swap) and pioneer TS-R1051S 10cm for the rear.
I chose these due to having the best reviews of speakers with a faceplate that I knew I could fit.

The rears needed the holes enlarging as I had prefacelift 3" sspeakers. I did this with a dremmel cutting disc and a sanding adapter.

Really really happy with the outcome for £75 (at time of purchase), the clarity is a huge improvement but still lacks any bass.
I have also ordered a kenwood under seat sub with an inbuilt amp so should also be plug and play if I wire it to the HU. Obviously won't fit behind or under the seat so it may have to go in the passenger footwell. Trial and error.

I'm interested to see how you get on as I changed my HU and it's made very little difference to the sound quality. As for the radio reception that's still absolutely rubbish

My radio reception has taken a nose dive recently. I've even put the original aerial back on but can barely get a channel in a city centre.
My HU is a pioneer Sph-10BT. I'm undecided if I like it though

Are the rear speakers easily accessible?
or do you have to dismantle the rear bulkhead

I was worried, but if you pop these off and have tiny girl hands like me you can loosen the speaker from behind. Easy peasy

I got them off by shoving a screwdriver in through the seat belt guide hole

You're the Dakar that I've seen out and about haha. I live just up from Audi
Hi Dave,
we have already met, I called round your house a while ago talking about parts Don’t know if you remember, you mentioned you needed some callipers for a Golf!
eventually got my car on the road after a complete front strip down, I replaced everything so all as good as new now, the winter project looms with a full rear end rebuild.
I’m just off Alston Crescent.

Mot passed for another year. 4 new tyres supplied at cost price from wifes work (davanti) so be interesting to see if they're terrible or not. Couldnt pass the opportunity for the price and give them a test once scrubbed.
I keep forgetting to take my pressed metal plates off the car for mot haha, always fails for it every year. Also needed a new copper washer on a rear caliper as it had the tiniest leak.
And a handbrake adjustment, which was weird cos its the same as it was last year when they tested it.

Nevertheless another one out the way, surprisingly done 2k miles since the last one.

We have a good relationship with the manager at kwik fit round the corner, we always have a bit banter, he gets his tyres from the wifes competitors, so she gives him grief.
He agreed to fit the tyres for me which they would never do normally, but told me they would be terrible and I should call an ambulance in advance.. pulled away at the junction and gave it maybe 25% throttle, cars response was to go full Ken Block on me =)) waiting for a dry day to wear them in, not sure how long I'll be waiting.
