Hood spring

The first image is my friends Z3 hood mechanism.
The second is mine.
Is it possible to source the bit/bits to repair it?

Did you work out how to fix this, I have the same issue?
Looks like you can get a new OEM tension rope part number 54318413877 but to fit it seems like you need to start peeling back the hood from the frame, which I wouldn’t want to do.
I’m thinking maybe crimp a round electrical connector to the loose end of the cord and hook onto the spring?
Mine has been bust ever since I’ve had the car and it doesn’t seem to cause a problem, other than an annoying bit of cord dangling down.

Im sure I read on here that someone did a fix with fishing line. I have one broken and hoping it will get sorted when I have my new roof and I ask them to look at it.

Had a go at fixing mine today. Used cable ties (100mm). One didn’t hold it, two seemed okay, but managed to get three on for good measure. Cut off the tails and finished off with some cloth tape (the sort you use to wrap wire looms).
