Hi, I am currently looking for an old Z3, 1.9 will do, I am a panel beater and painter so I am looking for a toy to play with, what mechanical weakness do I need to be on the look out for, thanks

Good job you are a panel beater, as rust is sadly just starting to infest our little Zeds. Usual things to look out for are rubber suspension components and anything under the bonnet made out of rubber!

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome guys, I have just had a z3 in the workshop which was an MOT failure, it was a 97 with 26000 genuine miles (old chap had had it from new) both near side jacking points had completely corroded to the point that there where 2 gaping holes in the chassis , I charged him £750 +vat for the repair, I was rather taken with the car and thats what got me thinking there should be a few cheap ones about, I only want it for some summer fun as I really love the ides of touring the highlands in one and maybe even getting over the chanell and going over the Alps

Hello @Sean d, there are some bargain Zeds available at the moment, and touring the Highlands or the Continent is as good a reason to buy one as any I've heard.
They are great little cars that never fail to put a big grin on our faces
