Would be worth changing all the fluids unless paper evidence shows they have been changed recently. Also springs, shocks, bushes and hoses may well be long past their best. Use the search button for 'tramlining' to get the gen on this. Also ask away here re any advice or technical help. Also google BMW VIN number to get the build spec of your Z3

Bonzo.
Yep going to get to work on all of what you've suggested Bonzo. Bushes first as that seems to be the most common suggestion.

Already got the Build spec from my local BMW dealer. It has more bit info than what came up on www.bmwvin.com ;)

Hi All,

Been toying with the idea of a Z3/Z4/Boxster since the beginning of the year, and my decision was made when this 2.8 came up at a great price and I couldn't resist.

Needs a little tidying here and here but nothing major. I'm in Bath. Anyone else nearby?

Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey......................Frankie

Welcome.

are the wheels on the wrong axles?

if they are MV2 wheels they should be staggered and from that picture it looks like the narrower ones are on the back and the wider ones on the front?
Lovely shiny car!
Got to agree that the fronts seem to be right up against the arch where the rears are set well in.
Could be a set of 8J non staggered, but even then, the rears would only be 12mm inside where a set of 8.5Js would be. Not sure you'd notice that as much.
Put an 8J on the rear and 8.5J on the front you'll get nearly 25mm difference.

I wonder if someone has put them on not realising they are staggered. I bet the near-side is ok. That would likely explain the tramlining too.

It does look odd is it just the way the pic looks or is the front tyre stretched to fit the wheel?

I think the front sits out against the arch much more than you'd expect especially compared to the rear. It's not just the tyre but wheel too. Can't quite make out the tyre size in the picture even sharpened up.
