Welcome @RichieZ1,

I would love a Z1, seen quite a few now and they not only beautiful car but really ingenious in their design. If the concept of removable plastic body panels had caught on, then accident repair bills would be drastically reduced.

You must be joking, new body parts for the, cars are as rare as rocking horse s*** and cost a fortune. There can be problems with the doors as well. I know that some guy in Germany makes carbon fiber parts but at a price.
Oh buy the way, welcome from me too.........:beer

Was thinking more about adoption in general across the whole industry. It's always going to be difficult and expensive locating parts for a 25 year old car. :)

Sorry for hijacking the thread

Nice car Richie, I hope you enjoy it. They're certainly rare and guaranteed to become more precious as the years go by.

I'm not a Z1 owner and so don't know and specifics on the cars, but you may want to post the area that you live in to give yourself a better chance of success in locating a specialist? If you're in Aberdeen you don't need a recommendation of someone in Cornwall, or vice versa!

Most BMW's are pretty straight forward, so a local specialist will probably be able to fulfil most of your needs. If they are a true specialist they'll know who to pick up the phone to for any further advice.

This is a link to the BMW Z1. Please check it out and pick their brains for information, but come back to this site for camaraderie and a little fun. You'll be welcomed by the members here both on site and at any events that are going on in your area. They're a friendly bunch. They'll also make a real fuss of you're car if they get the pleasure of seeing it.

Watch out for the leg pull though... they're a mean lot!

Have fun with your car.

Another hijack, Smart Cars, I had one. Used to scare the crap out of me as it used to pull away badly at roundabouts and junctions. Thanks to the Smart forum, I removed a fuse and all was well, work that one out........!

My E92 has plastic front wings, and a plastic (ok, and CF) roof. :)

Oh, and the last time I saw a real Z1 was when I was taking my driving lessons.

Hi Richie. Welcome to the forum. I really love the look of the z1. There's a great bunch of guys here that always try their best to help any way they can. I can't wait to see some pictures of the car. Looking forward to your next post and pictures. Frankie (from over the pond).
