I’ve a 2.8 z3 it has failed mot on sill and rear subframe bracket am I able to buy the brackets?or would use know where I would find them

Can you define sill bracket please Sean. Maybe some pictures would help?

Agreed could be the lower plate that rear subframe bush usually sitting on Tony.
And is the sill inner or outer.

I was wondering if it's the 'push rod' which, to an MOT guy, looks more like a bracket than a rod.

Mine was rusted. About a cm from the front tip, had gone. MOT was september and I don't recall any advisories about it specifically. But when I removed the bracket to do the bush I saw that the MOT guy must have been poking around back there, scratches in the rust etc. But he musta decided it was wasn't critical. Maybe his 'suspension corrosion' advisory included that.

Anyway. Bracket was off so I chopped off the end and welded on a piece. Not too close to the bolt holes and it welded OK so I'm happy with the repair.

Anyway, if it is that 'bracket' then spurs fan will surely have one. But fitting it is a different kettle of fish.

I was thinking it would be this as tester would have looked at the car practically guaranteed the subframe bushes are sitting down on the plates tester would think plates holding bushes in ( when they are not they are designed to give stabilisation to the lower end of the pin.)
So if plates corroded and he thinks supporting bushes thats why will failed also as for the sill failure if its part of the outer skin sill cover he has failed this is a bolt on part and as such is NOT load bearing and should not fail an mot if its part of the inner sill or jacking point then thats a different story and will be a fail.
