Hi all, just picked up a 1999 Z3 1.9 first job is seat won’t move forwards or back. Is anyone local ish to Bognor Regis that might be willing to help if I come to them? Tomorrow would be great as driving it is uncomfortable, huge ask I know. I was given the flexible shaft set 52 10 8 398 812 with the which I was told will fix this. Any help or advice will most appreciated. Thanks Nick

Does the seat motor click or make any attempt to move the seat at all when you operate the switch Nick? Does the N/S seat work ok?

Tony.

Hi Nick, sorry for delay I'm watching BTCC from Thruxton on YT. I would try giving the seat mechanisms a tap with a hammer while you're operating the switch. They could simply be jammed through lack of use. You tend to find that in a car where the seat has been left well forwards the driver may have been not very tall and the seat has been in that position for a long time. Nothing to lose by trying.

Tony.

Sounds like it is jammed up. Try the tapping trick. Is there any movement in the seat, ie "rocking"?

Tony.

Not that I can recall, can’t find the locking wheel nut key which the previous owner said was in the car, wondering if it maybe under the causing the problem. Will look in the morning. Thanks again

Found the seat problem, part that connects to the seat runner and the flexible shaft has snapped, see picture. Has anyone got one I can buy? Also the gear knob is off centre again see picture, can I just undo the nut, rotate the shaft and tighten? Thanks
