After few hours it will start and run again for about 5-10 min and cut out again.Plugged it in today there are no codes showing ( could be my scanner cheap one off amazon) anybody any idea what it could be?

My money is on camshaft position sensor. When the one failed on my 2000 Z3 2.0 it had the same issues. Which code reader did you get? Where are you located? You are connecting to the round connector in the engine bay?

Thanks for the reply the code reader I have is just a cheap no name one of amazon got it a few years ago for about £20 lol. I plugged it in under the bonnet as I don't have a obd2 port on my car so had to buy a adapter. I'm located in wigan. What make of sensor did you buy please?

The sensor I used was OEM from Euro Car Parts. It was a Bosch item with their logo ground off. Try asking if there is a member close who could read it for you Philip.

I just had a friend use his scanner on it still showing no codes but it was one of them bluetooth ones so not sure how good they would be on a old car. What scanner do you use?

I bought a Foxwell NT530, which you get regular updates.

Mine did that. I changed it really on the symptoms that it showed. I got it at "trade" price of around £60 IIRC. But that was around 10 years ago now. I think it came in a Febi box but it was a Bosch item with the logo ground off.

Whatever you do, do not buy really cheap from eBay etc. they will not last. Ask me how I know.
