Hi guys, after some thought on what to do I order to increase the cars hp and since my main concern is not to exceed 140hp due to the LPG
, I was thinking of swapping my e46 1,9 118hp engine with an e36 1,8is 140hp, does any one have any experience with this? I hear it’s quite easy, simple swap.....
Does anyone know what other options I have engine wise, as I would prefer to swap my engine with something newer rather than something older...

Thanks in advance

There is another thread kicking about at the moment on that subject.

I was thinking if your plans are to up bhp to 140 with m44 transplant.
Would it not be less long term hassle to take the lpg off yours buy an m44 powered zed and fit lpg to that.

It’s an older model my z was produced second half 2001 so I would like to find an engine after 2001 rather than one before 2001.

Problem you have is m44 is only up to 2000 even the m43 doesn't run much past 03 the n42 replaces both of these units

The biggest problem is going to be the later generation engines wiring system could well be incompatible in several ways.

Why would you not want to go over 140hp on lpg? If it's due to the vapouriser, just fit a bigger vapouriser. The newer ones are tiny, much more efficient. Also, not using T pieces for the water but rerouting the system is far more efficient, and takes six potential leak points out. I changed my Ignis Sport to run through the heater, then the vapouriser, then back to the head, works perfectly.
My son wanted to convert his 318 to M44 but that was abandoned quite quickly. There's more than just an engine change, the ecu and a chunk of wiring, I think the clutch as well, can't quite remember. The car was his daily, so couldn't be off the road for long.
