Yesterday I changed the dual temp aux fan switch in the radiator. Electrically all is good but... when I remove the old one there is an o ring in between the switch and the radiator. I reused the o ring but if the new switch is not tightened exactly right (which is not very much) the o ring deforms and it leaks. It will move with vibration and it will leak for sure.

There is no o ring shown on realoem and I cannot believe that this is the correct way to fit this switch. The radiatior was changed some years ago and the ring may have been fitted then.

Please - What is the correct way to fit and seal this switch so it's reliably leak free.

Wrap it with PTFE tape. Wrap it against the direction you screw the switch in.

No, when you've lapped plenty of tape round the thread wind a load more right under the face where a washer would be.

It's done. Will test shortly
Could not find a torque setting but it's as tight as I dare given the plastic threads. Cheers and thanks for the hand up.

Perfectly. All tight and dry. I think the guys who changed the radiator some years back used that o ring. So I actually found a land mine in a way. At some stage it would have sprung a leak. Thanks Tony. Now for my next two problems...
