We sold the boat we rarely used this week, and in only a year-and-a-half we'll be empty nesters. We are just starting the process of looking for our 1st fun little sports car, but we are complete novices.

Last September, we spent an afternoon driving through the countryside of central Minnesota's rolling hills and cornfields in one of my buddy's Z3 Ms. (He and his wife own 2 of them.) Needless to say it was a freaking blast, and we'd love to find something similar for our own garage. We need to fill the space that was left empty after the boat moved out. So, I'm just beginning our research and I hope to start test driving cars once spring rolls around.

:)

Welcome from near Lincoln UK. Maintanence costs are likely to be considerably higher for an ///M than for a 3.0. If you can do your own repairs maybe not an issue but worth a little thought, either way good luck in your springtime search.:)

Hi and welcome from Warwickshire in the UK.

As Tony said, Ms require a lot of maintenance and consequently expensive to keep in top condition. Well worth the cost undoubtedly but best to be aware of the investment needed before you buy.
And there’s the next issue - check the maintenance history and look for gaps. Done well and properly a well maintained car is a key buying point. Having lots done isn’t necessarily the sign of a problem car.

Good luck with the search.
