I am located in Florida and own a '98 Z3; black with black leather including dash. I own my own business as a Naval Architect and Marine Surveyor. Biggest problem I have had with the car in 30,000 miles is 4 new tops and 5 new dashboards. The stereo has never really worked right either. I bought the car new in '97 and still run the original tires, brakes, etc. It mostly sits in the garage and use it to take the dog swimming at the beach( passenger seat is removed). Never put the motor on a dyno, but when I purchased the car a friend who built my 911 to be a track car decided to pull the motor (only had 250 miles) and changed the fuel management, intake, heads, cam, pistons; basically everything inside the block. He made it roughly a 3.2l motor out of the 2.8. One positive note is that my wife cannot stand even riding in the car never mind driving it (so no dents or scratches) because it has never idled smooth and having no muffler or resonator it is very loud. l have done nothing to the looks of the car nor suspension as I do not run the car hard. Brakes are the only the 3 piston stop-tech front and 2 piston rear. Hopefully I can give any advise and hope to receive the same when needed. Thank you All.
