Heated Seat Relay?

I have a 2000 3.0i, which has standard seats with no heating. I bought some sports seats with the intention of stripping them and recovering before installing, but the leather whilst stiff and the wrong colour seems worth saving, so I'll be feeding the leather and changing the colour to Tanin Red. I only have the seats themselves and not the bases. I've also bought a pair of heated seat switches out of a 3 series from the same year (look exactly the same as facelift Z3 switches). There are two fuses for heated seats already in the car, my question is, do I need to install a relay for the heated seats (I believe the wiring should already be under the carpets and behind the centre console) or should there already be one in there somewhere? Also, the drivers base heater is kaput. Can anyone recommend an aftermarket replacement pad which can be cut for the hog rig attachment when reinstalling the covers?

Have a look in your wiring diagrams. That will tell you if there is a relay or not. In the back of the diagrams there are item location photos, so you'll know where to look of the relay.

Don't have any wiring diagrams?

They are in the "Resources" section of this forum. See the blue ribbon at the top of your screen. They are build date specific.
