the headlights will come on automatic at dusk (or in tunnels)?
Hi Hans, this will only occur if the headlights are switched to activate Automatic operation. In my Z4 I have to turn the headlights switch to the left to activate auto lights whereas turn to the right is "manual" operation.

I have a "LeatherZ" armrest in my Z4 and also some Elbow rests on the door cards. All good stuff, highly recommended

Tony.

Good question !

I had assumed that US cars with the daytime lights-on option activated both back and front. Since we've been cruising the Pacific Central American coast for 6 years until last April we hadn't had a car again until we found this little gem of a Z3. My assumption about the lights in the rental cars along the way may have been wrong ?

Interesting.

If, on your way to the Keys you happen to be in Kissimmee, drive the US192 at dusk and see if you spot some. The local police don't seem to be aware, or bothered, about this.:(

Just stopped at the west end of the Everglades (first time there).

It was a wonderful drive across and down. The roads are beautiful but too straight, otherwise perfect ! I'll have to get a strap for my cap, it sure wanted to fly off !

Love the cruise control ... keeps me from getting tickets :)

I'll keep my eyes open for rear lights when we drive in twilight the next few days. Will check in at the Rough Edge* tomorrow night.

* @t-tony corrected me, it is the Ragged Edge !

I hope it'll be the Ragged Edge Sven ;) Man, I am sooooo jealous, would love to be there right now, hope you have a great time in the Keys and that they have begun to pick themselves up again after the damage from the storms.

Tony.

ps. If you head down to Key West there's a place called the "Wreck and Galley", well worth calling in for a meal. It's next door to the Dolphin Research Centre.

Looks like you now have to drive across Alligator Alley as its known to the East coast, another very long, very straight road but worth the effort. Have fun.

Here's my DRL's, write up from my journal

And redone the stealth DRL's in the blanks next to the fog lights. I put some heat shrink over the connections at the back this time so I didn't short them out like the last ones. Fitted 3 each side in total, stripped them down so they have no holders and are just the LED so I could flush fit them into the blanks. Then a couple of layers of matt tint film over the top to hide and protect them. You wouldn't know they are there unless you were looking.

They wanted to know who to thank for the recommendation. I told them T-Tony which left them bewildered

Try telling them Tony and Shirley Spence, Sven. It was Mike (Jose) and Rhona who owned the place when we were there last. Please send us some pictures (in a PM) and we hope it's as nice as it was when we were there last. How was the drive down?

My DRLs are fixed to each side of the grill with brackets behind, they come on with ignition and are the only lights switched on until the side lights are on, however they are wired so they go out with headlights on to comply with EEC regs. I mounted them vertical at first but it just didn't suit the shape of the grill mouth which is very slightly narrowed towards the bottom so remounted at a very slight angle. See for yourselves.

Not convinced that they're the best bet these days as there wasn't the choice that there is now, ( @gookah & @g8jka have nailed the fixing and have the best of both:thumbsup:) Mine came with brackets to mount them horizontal and lucky I've got small hands enabling me to get them mounted vertical without taking DIY S/S grill out. Still prefere the really bright DRL halo's fitted ( as Martin @Mnbrennan has on his blue 2.8L Z3) just IMO though.

The drive was great ...

The Ragged Edge is definitely recovering nicely. Guess there used to be an observation deck and other stuff but they got really badly hit. The palm trees are new. The sand on the 'beach' is being replaced. All the bottom floor rooms were flooded out and are being re-furnished. To us it all looks nice and new but then we don't know what it used to look like (apart from the pictures you sent). Apparently the granddaughters now run the place ? We'll PM some pics later.

We passed on your names.

You are right about US daytime driving lights, they are front only !

Another top down day beckons ... on to Key West and maybe the Wreck and Galley. Ate at MM 88 last night, pricey by US (as in United States and also as in 'us') standards but delicious.
