I've got a new set of Osram Night Breaker Bulbs to replace the crap bulbs I have a the moment. But, looking at the back of the head light units, the distance between them and the air filter box and the washer fluid reservoir seems pretty cramped.

Is it actually possible to replace the bulbs in situ, without being endowed with some ET like fingers?

Same on my 2000 Z3 but the airbox is easy to remove.

Tony.

So, I was faffing with the headlight bulbs today. I had to move around both the wash fluid reservoir and air filter housing, but I noticed the following disconnected plug:

Anyone knows what that is for?

Edit: Air filter, not hair filter. Although, I could do with a hair filter in my shower…

You will find lots of these as they made the car with 1 loom fits all. Could be for headlight washers ? Things that weren’t specced on the car from factory. If you have nothing not working forget it.

Yeah, everything seems to be working as expected… just my OCD. ;)

Agree with Tony's comment. I disconnected the bonnet switch a number of years ago as part of a spurious alarm investigation. When I went to reconnect there was a twin there - now which was which? Doh!
How did you get on with bulbs - I have same job to do.

I am an idiot, and didn't notice I had ordered an HB3 pair and an H4 (instead of HB4) pair. So, I am now waiting for delivery of new bulbs sometime next week. Doh! :(

Didn't want to finish the job half-way, so I am doing them all together next weekend.

So, I finally had time today to replace the bulbs (right H4 this time) and what a difference.

The Night Breakers are fantastic—not Xenon or LED bright but—what a difference. Night and day (no pun intended). I will still avoid driving at night, but if a I need to, it will certainly be less painful. ;)

ETA: The opposing headlights didn't seem as fierce, but it might just be that I wasn't't as tired today.

I drove my Z3 back from the Goodwood Revival in 2019 and by the time we left it was dark. The roads in West Sussex are winding and dark... o_O

Must look at brighter bulbs!

I go to Goodwood most years, but normally spend the weekend around there. There's no way I would be driving back at night, particularly when I take the Spitfire.

The fitments are HB3 (main beam) and HB4 (high beam).
Thanks - I put car/model details into ECP part finder and it came back with a few options - all H7 variety. Confused me which isn't difficult.

You'll have fun trying to fit H7 bulbs that is for sure.

Tony.
