Head liner broken??

Does anybody know what this part of the head liner should look like? I’ve got a loose cord and loose flap at the corners of the head liner on both sides where the fabric meets the metal frame.

There are also springs on either side which don’t connect to anything, so my current theory is that the loose cord goes through the holes in the metal bracket and returns to be held taut by that spring. But there’s no obvious way of connecting the end of the cord to the spring, and also I don’t want to do it if it’s wrong in case something breaks next time I put the roof down!

If anyone can send pics of this area or advice on how to fix this it would be much appreciated!

Its bust. I have one broken too, the bit that goes through the metal retainer is missing as its snapped, easyish fix and parts available from your local stealer.
I believe its what tensions the front part of the roof and makes it pop up for opening when you release the locks, most of us have to push it up manually then retract the roof. When new these sprung cords would have done the same thing. Mine used to pop up on its own until one side cord snapped.

Looks exactly like mine, I had no idea it should pop up! I've been meaning to try and fix this dangling cord for ages. I did wonder if the cord went through the clip and then just back to to the spring. I was wondering about just splicing some paracord in and tying this in to the spring. I assume the spring needs to be pulled under tension with this spring back action. I'd love to see a photo of how this should look.

Here is the photo for you.

With the soft top partly retracted to give you easy access:
1) feed cord through hole in triangular metal tab
2) tie a single knot right at the end of the cord
3) loop the knot through the end of the spring and install a zip tie around the cord so that the knot is used to stop the cord from being pulled through the zip tie.

My cord was too short to tie a knot so I used a split lead for fishing line to crimp the cord together.
