It was an interesting day at Haynes, going to watch @La_vida_diver test out his Westfield kit car on their private hire race track.

Day started off at a petrol station on the A303/A34 junction to meet up with 3 other zeds. Then the treck along the A303 (past Stonehenge) to the Haynes museum at Sparkford (nr. Yeovil). Met up with a bunch from the BMW Car Club, and also a few other Zedders including Peter and his wife (nice to meet you both!).

I have some video footage of him both in action on the track, and being pushed back to the pits... Yes it was that kind of testing day!

Footage of @La_vida_diver as promised. At the start they are listening to engine noises through a tube, then Duncan heads off to the track for a blast. Don't forget to set it to view in full 1080HD and turn your speakers up! Great sounding little car, and looks buckets of fun too.

Sadly at the end of the video he has to be pushed back to the "pits" as the throttle developed an issue due. He got it fixed just as I left an hour later and was back out again.

Guys and Gals Many thanks for the support although I was busy focused on the test day it was great to see you all and it added to my enjoyment of the day knowing that friends were in the museum as well.

Test day had a few issues but then that is what they are for, we lost the fuel pump twice and had to strip it down and rebuild it, had oil leaks due to a cock up on my part and lost the throttle a couple of times so need a different throttle mechanism before it goes on it's first track day in a couple of weeks.

Charlie has taken some ariel footage and we will get it to Gaz to put up as soon as we can.

Many thanks for some great shots and footage Gaz!

The Track Team did not get to see the Museum so we will have to do another visit to the museum and maybe do the fleet air arm museum also another time as it is not far from there either. It would seem that it could be a decent location for a fair area.:)

Catch up again later.

PS I will also have a chat with the Museum management in the next few days to see what else we can arrange for another visit.

Another Visit to either would be great.. Managed to find a great pub in Mere for an amazing Carvery Meal as @Lee will I am sure agree. It is called The Walnut Tree and is to be found on the southern edge of the town. So yes, another visit west would be very agreeable I am sure.

@Peter Cruse please don't worry about the cleanliness I am renowned for the dirtiest car I will be glad to have some company. =))

We have had some great humour about the swirls etc over the years. Never the mind the cow s*** I bring to our events.

Nice looking track toy Duncan, I can only but approve of the colour :) hope you get the bits and bobs sorted. Are you putting in a full cage?

Cheers

Hi @Brian H no ref full cage, I was hoping too but budget would not stretch that far but I have a full RAC bar which has four point 4 point contact and full 3" harness. So have improved the situation ref Black. And I know I have loads to relearn and get used to I have a track day at cadwell on 17th and Oulton on Nivember 12th which will both be "development" track days with changes between. Then over winter think about next year's track days. New car has no limited slip diff or ASC etc so lots to learn and weight is (yet yo be weighed) close to 1\3 of the weight of "Black" so about 40% more power than "Black" per ton. Brakes are able to lock up with current 22 year old tyres but when they change could be a different kettle of fish entirely. As I say loads to learn.

At this point yes! Not a problem as we are just sorting build problems and design choices (mess ups, lol ) been in a dark barn no sun no weight and inflated all the time. Cadwell the plan is to have some "established" wheels and tyres on hand to switch to. It is all learn and take care. Not taking chances but learning as we go taking care to check everything we can as we go.

I think we should arm the drone.. haha.. see how fast @La_vida_diver can move with a target on his car.. If we had a laser we could add say 10 seconds to his time for every direct hit.. haha..

Great Video too...

As a new member I really enjoyed the day at Haynes with all the other BMW drivers !
Without being to controversial I was expecting to see lots of photos of members and their cars that turned up, being a BMW day and also being a BMW fan.

Do you know, it's funny you should say that because when I got home I realised I hadn't taken any pictures of the BMW group in the car park . First time that's happened, think I got carried away by the museum... ooops...
