Just out of interest, what would it look like if you left them off?
I did not have them on my Weissman.

I Charles I recently had my hard top painted and the rubbers removed before painting, even though your having it painted black, ide still keep the rain channels black rubber it looks more oem, than colour coding coding them IMHO.
Jimmy.
I am now beginning to lean that way.
It would appear that as of now, few members have gone with my direction of thought.
However when sourcing photographs of Z3 vehicles, one notices all kinds of body modifications away from the norm.
Example paint finishes, racing stripes,BMW logos, two tones etc.
I am a stock guy, through and through.
In my part of the world Z3 hardtops are extremely rare.
Infact the BMW dealership in North Vancouver where I live, have never seen a Z3 drive up to service counter complete with top!!!
Believe you me, in Vancouver it rains significantly, hence the search for the hardtop!
Just thought I could give it a wee bit of additional class.
Jimmy, when they sprayed your hardtop, did they remove the rear glass window, and turn back the headliner?
Do you utalize the top often?
I can assure the vehicle takes on a whole new dimension,of which I have to say, owners of recent BMW's become confused over here.
Perhaps not so profound in the UK.
Thank you for your input.
Kind regards.
Charlie

If it were me I would replace the original type even if black. You can "highlight" them using rubber dressings etc. to make them stand out from the roof itself. If, as you say it rains a lot in Vancouver you will soon get fed up of getting wet by the water running off the side of the roof and onto your legs as you get out of the car.

Tony.

Indeed.
I think I will buy one of those umbrellas you put on your head.
Cheers

Nice one!
Year?
Engine?
October 1996 1.9 M44, I owned it for five years and I bought it from a car collector.
His garage was amazing.
As @t-tony stated, my boss totaled the car.

I sold the hardtop to a forum member in the UK, he later bought a Z4, so sold the hardtop on to another member.
It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that a part of my old car is still out there and in the forum family.

Know the feeling well.
An ex lady friend of mine gave me an ultimatum.
Unfortunately it was her or my Mark 2 Jag.
( might I say British racing green, spoked up 3.8 complete with overdrive)
As usual I procrastinated.
She's now got two kids and married to a senior BA flight instructor!!!
Always look on the bright side of life----

Happened to me, that is when I got rid of the Merc and bought the Z.
--Rock on Tom!
By now you are aware I am new to the Z3 automobiles,(after years of Jaguars)
I have the 2002 3.0 complete with sports package.
The crome gear shifter has the M/emblem.
Do you known if the shift should alluminate at night when the lights are turned on?
My research appears to be conflicting.
Secondly when wishing to post an open invitation to all, a box comes up requesting names( no more than 15)
I write my blurb, however can't post?
In the box I put -ALL MEMBERS-however doesn't like it!
Thirdly the handbook states the fog lights will not operate with the headlights on.
In Canada we have to run with lights during the day,as we do at night.
However I encounter meny foggy days with in the seasonal change.
I have located the button for the headlight activity, alas negative!
Thank you for your time.
