Thank you.
Still having a few issues with navigation on the site, I thank members in general.
It would appear that there is no defined method in which the rain water leaders were attached.
Looks like it may be double sided tape.
However I am having the hardtop painted black, same colour as car.
Trying to find rainwater leaders in a different colour.
Black on black is not as appealing.
Now black on a silver top looks sharp!
When one searches photos of hadtops,
few exhibit grey on black.
The new rain black water leaders are still available at BMW Germany.
(Just in case the body shop experiences difficulties in removal)
It would appear you are a knowledgeable member.
Is this thread going to all members?
I truly hope so,thank you Sir for you kind support and wisdom.
It is greatly appreciated.

When bought new from bmw the rain guides come with double sided tape attached. So they should just peel off the roof with a flat screwdriver to help pry it up.

Thank you.
Do you know if they can be painted a different colour if purched new?
Or if the originals come off ok, can then indeed be retrofitted in a similar fashion?
Cheers.

I would think you can paint them. Your paint shop should be able to tell you. I'm not sure what they are made of, plastic I assume.
I like them as they are, greyish/black, but I have a silver hardtop.

Basically anything can be painted given the correct procedures.

At this end the body shop is reluctant to paint rubber another colour, and stand by the future servicability.
That's understandable.
Just thought I would throw this experience out there.
Never know, someone may have gone through a a similar situation.
Kind regards. Charlie

Thank you.
Then we agree, different coloured hard tops (not black) are complemented when inserting black rain water rain leaders.
The paint shop is reluctant to paint, and thereafter warranty future serviceability.
Thank you for your time.

Sorry, did not fully understand your response.
However thank you for your reply.

Sean is a body / paint sprayer man, he should be able to advise you so I tagged him in to the thread, hopefully he will pop on and advise

Hi Charlie, Sean did indeed reply in post #10

Tony.
I see, so my understanding is anything can be painted if prepared accordingly.
I will try one more time with the body shop!
Or perhaps get a second opinion,
Only delema I have,
is the guys have it on the bench ready to go.
Perhaps I should show them Sean's comments.
Or perhaps if Sean is not to busy, he could further elaborate.
Thank you both kindly for your help.
Will consider my options,
Kind regards.
Charlie

If they are rubberised it could be problematic but you can get an additive that is a plasticiser and therefor makes the paint flexible rather then brittle, however I would not guarantee for more then a year.

I Charles I recently had my hard top painted and the rubbers removed before painting, even though your having it painted black, ide still keep the rain channels black rubber it looks more oem, than colour coding coding them IMHO.
