HARDTOP LINING DROOPING

Ok so last year I had the hard top off and peeled back the material lining because it was dropping. I was recommended to use this spray glue to stick it back on.

After only a very few days of sunshine this year (I’m in the U.K. 😀) the lining is drooping again! Very annoying as it’s a very fiddly job!

Has anyone used something that actually works?
Please share your experiences?

Thanks

I’ve used that type of contact adhesive for many things, different brands too, and never had a problem. 3M products usually very good too. Does the lining stick directly to the inside of the roof ?

Hi Tony, yes directly onto the inside of the roof.

Our Gary did the inside of his roof on his T4 van and that's steel and didn't have any problems. Maybe a bad batch?

Tony.

My lining on my 99 face lift zed has a membrane ( a sort of clear plastic type stuff) between the cloth you see underneath and the roof above it.
Is is possible that either it has separated from the cloth and it is still glued to roof or the membrane has caused the glue to detach itself.

Stephen.

For roofs it needs to be high temp, found that out the hard way. If there’s any fabric, or glue residue, it should be removed or the solvent in the glue when you spray it on will loosen it.
Screwfix used to sell a brilliant high temp spray. The current one isn’t, and yes, I’ve found that out the hard way too.

The lining on my hardtop doesn't touch the roof at the top at all...it just screws in round the sides.........however having said that ....it was sold to me by a very dodgy guy...

I used that 3M stuff in the hood lining of my brother's car. So far, no issues whatsoever.
