Hard seats.

Are all Z seats hard or have I got a delicate bum. My seats are the two colour leather sports seats and are like park benches. An hour's driving produces a flat on the a**e. Perhaps repadding?

Sounds like you've got a Sports model so as well as the harder sports seats the car should have sports suspension.I had a 2.2i Sport Z3 and my wife always complained about comfort. Didn't bother me, but we're all different. You could swap the seats for standard and your sports seats are more valuable than ordinary ones.

They aren’t meant to be the ultimate comfort experience compared to modern BMW seats - my 3 Series ones are like armchairs.

But neither are they meant to be rock hard. Has the inner foam base collapsed/gone hard?

I’m quite fussy with seats but I don’t the Sport seats uncomfortable. And that’s on 2.2/3.0 Sport.

Thank you both for your comments. When time allows I will remove and examine the driver's seat,which is the offending article. It seems to have sagged compared to the passenger seat.

Sounds like the bolsters have collapsed. The cover will need to be removed for repair. A new foam base is about £125. But repairs can be effective. I glue in dense foam fillets over the metal support rods that push through the foam. Some people then gaffer tape it all up. I pull it all back up taught with a thin layer of foam all over the wing.

Mine is hard as nails too - not the most comfortable seat by any means.
If/when I ever get them retrimmed, I'll ask for more padding to be added.

mine arent the sport seats and they are hard also. Planning on this winter removing them and getting redone. Going to lose the pebbled leathe and go with a smooth black to contrast the tan.
