Mine need changing. Has anyone had any experience of OEM vs non-OEM? If OEM are noticeably better I will get them, or if there is an aftermarket version that is better than OEM I will go for them instead..

The red shed guys @Lee and @GazHyde should be able to help with this as they have fitted a few..

Long time since I did mine Alan but they were definitely aftermarket ones and they fitted perfectly and worked the same. I think I used Eoro's for those and the Pagid shoes.

Tony.

Yeah we use off the shelf ones from GSF. They are like for like. Bit of a pain to do, the body needs a good whack to leave the back of the hub. You will also need to remove the exhaust to get to them. The heat shield above the exhaust blocks any line of sight. You might be able to bend the heat shielding back but I've never tried it like that before.

On top of what Lee said, the GSF cables also need a little trimming on the eyelet which goes through the back of the hub and secures to the mechanism. We usually grind them on the grinding wheel a little, but otherwise good...

It's the bit in the red square below I'm referring to.

I had to do that too and had to file out the slotted washers from the adjuster ends inside the car, I'd forgotten that.

Still got the original one piece exhaust on my car and don't really want to have to cut it!!

I managed to do mine without removing anything Alan. You have to tape same strong string to the old cables before you pull them through the floor, then fasten it to the new cables and pull them back up through the holes in the floor.

I did mine too with everything left in place, a bit fiddly but achievable, I did use OEM cables, no adjustment needed on these.

That's good to know guys. It's a pain doing it with everything out. Must be worse with everything in place.

Easy enough but I was on a ramp and most jobs are easier when you're standing up.

Tony.

Gonna get my mate to do it.. he owns a garage and has ramps and charges me mates rates.. cant be longer than an hour or so whereas l'm so clumsy and ham fisted that it would prob take me 6 hours to do on my drive laying underneath on a cold floor..
