How are keeping in this second lockdown
I have just joined the FB side of the Cactus & Succulent Society as I have a few dozen succulents and have also joined as an elderly couple who have been collecting for 30 , 40 years want to find a new home for them all in one place where people can see. Hoping to see the collection in near future Geoff

Hi Dawn
We are well Thanks just the usual aches and pains that come with old age:D
No, I have not seen the collection yet but the two greenhouses that they are all in are huge and my 10x8 has got 3 collapsable greenhouse tables in it plus usual staging and I can jst abouit get in to try and keep an eye on things but I call my wife dead eye dick as she sees things that I dont since she had her cateract done and has found a caterpiller on a couple of my succulents one o which I think is rather rear and they hd started to nibble the edges of the leaves:mad:
Talking plants my brother told me that his wife was struggling with all the Covid stuff and was getting a bit depressed and he i always having a go at me for not knowing the names of my plants, so as I have got about 40/50 succulents I sent her pics and names plus one called a G&T plant which i leafs touched smell of g&t and @ £30/40 it would save her money i she bought one. Also I sent a pic and name of my latest purchase with a name, he came back with a pic of one she said she had done but my brother did not know what it was called, so I thought I will post a pic on the new cactus and succulent FB forum that I had joined asking if any one knew what it was called, first reply from a lady in Oxford stright away said artificial right, I replied No real. Shortly after that my sister inlaw phoned to say her eldist had fallen down last few stairs was in hosspital with a broken leg (3 places) ect ect ect I then told her what the first name reply ws and she laughed and said thats right just pulling your leg, so that cheered her up but on the forum after saying sorry yes it is not real etcetc I keep getting laughing faces and thumbs up so will keep my headf dfown for a while and just look on the forum=)) so I made someolnes day
Lovely day here yesterday so we both spent it in the garden tiding up and cutting down things that I had got our gardener tostart on for me hopeull do more today if its not raining
regards Geoff

That’s made me laugh Geoff =)) Everyone on the forum will think you’re a real card now! Talking the forum, what is it on Facebook?
Getting out into the garden sounds a great idea. It’s good for the soul. And even better that your eagle-eyed wife spotted the caterpillar or the story could have ended like this: “One very fat caterpillar meets his match with Plastic Succulent!”=))

Re the con by sisterinlaw I now have loads of laughing faces , thumbs up and one sad face so will lay low for a while=)) and I found out this afternoon that the society will in due couirse collect contents of greenhouses after they have all been photographed and named and split between the societies specialists of each variety so at lest I have helped them.
More cutting down in garden and trellis re fixing, roll on spring when it all comes back into life

Spot on there Geoff. Speaking of Trellis, I had to erect some to hide the new oil tank we had to get installed earlier in the year.

OT? You have a large unit to conceal...not OT at all. Quite a modest solution IMO.

Nice neat job Tony, when we had an oil tank back in the 70s at our house in Surrey it was metal and we placed it at the end of our double length garage on the extension of garage base then next to it we put up a greenhouse, painted tank green. It was not visible from the house but as soon as the price of oil went up my brother convertited the oil boiler to gas or me. I then thought about converting tank for water storeage but never got round to it and after 10 years ther we moved back to Essex. They wer the days when I ran two big Humbers a Hawk and a Imperial hence the double length garage and my wife ran a Morris which stayed outside
