One thing I don't understand is why the seats and steering wheel in my zed have cracked and aged so much especially considering the car had only done 60000 miles when I got it... And Right now it's done 70k. The mot history backs the mileage up and so does the service book but I just don't get why in some zeds the leather is very nice and supple and in mine it's filled with cracks.

Anyway I'll post a picture of the steering wheel when it's done.

If the car is kept outside exposure to sunlight will gently degrade our car interiors. If the car lives in a garage the interiors fare much better

Must admit it does look well worn for 70k. Mines done 96k now and has faired much better than that. The leather, totally agree with Ant, if it's never been cleaned and treated it will crack.

True, as my interior is black - I find that it gets very very warm on a hot day, I can't imagine that would help the leather.

Ever heard of Leatherique? I've been using their products on my leather seats about once every 3 months, cleans the leather out like crazy, the amount of stuff it removes is brilliant.

Good luck on your steering wheel :p
Thank You! :) I've finished it and it looks okay but okay isn't good enough for me. =))

Yes, I think that the previous owners were clueless on vehicle maintenance. Some on the shelf leather cleaning products actually do more harm than good as they dry the leather up and cause these cracks to form.

I rub a small amount of car wax into my seats every couple of months. I have no sign of any cracks.

I full dyed my interior out with liquid leather and use their mild cleaners which are stong enough to keep it looking well.
