I went over to a scrappers at the weekend and saw a zed there so decided to remove a few bits. The highlight of the day was the bloke losing the key to the car and with it being deadlocked, I had to saw (yes saw) the roof off!

After I was done slicing through the roof, I used my twig arms to open the latches, put the roof down, climb on the wheel, then the rear wing and then into the car (felt so wrong climbing on the wing) - once in the car the bloke spliced the wires for the locking system in the door and unlocked the door with a separate battery.

Anyway got a fair few bits, some of which will be getting sold on for a decent (and not a rip off price).

Something from the day that made me happy was this (look closely) - put a massive smile on my face! :)

Glad you got what you wanted from this poor Zed - a nice note in the boot!

The paint work was immaculate, no corrosion anywhere and it looked as though it had been properly looked after, sadly though it had been rear ended and in a front end accident as well. But, what was left was in good nick!

I did, however, the scrapper knew the value of them so only gave me one!

Here's what I got:
- Wind Deflector
- Tonneau
- Speedo (78k)
- M Steering Wheel (sadly it's for the face lift and won't fit my pre-facelift car)
- Chrome Interior Pieces
- Wing Mirror (drivers side)
- Side Repeaters
- Sun Visor
- Antenna Mount

All for the mighty sum of £100. I haggled my way down cause that's just what I do best

Money raised is funding my new window regulator mechanism :whistle: (so all for a good cause)

@t-tony I went there with the intention of getting the regulator out and nothing else =))

However, the regulator had broke in the exact same spot and I ended up coming back with a load of other bits instead :D

You will be lucky to find an original one without the same stress fractures and cracks. If you can, buy a genuine one, assuming they're still available. Don't be tempted by the cheap aftermarket crap that's out there at ECP and the likes. Just NOT worth the money.:(

I didn't call BMW to ask how much they were selling for, instead I bought one from euro which just says OE quality and doesn't specify a brand - it wasn't cheap by any means - £120

Are the cheaper regulators more prone to breaking?

Why won't the wheel fit? They are all the same apart from the clock Spring.

Not just that they rarely fit well and that increases the chance of it failing. Show me a picture of the box it came in.

@t-tony Haven't got it yet, only ordered it today, it's arriving tomorrow morning. Will post a picture once it's arrived mate :)

@5harp3y It's the clock spring that's different, what my question should have been is whether it would be possible to use the clock spring from my existing SRS Wheel on the M Steering Wheel and still have all the features like the horn and airbag work, the steering wheel is in absolutely immaculate condition - it's superb. Tempted to leave it as is, however, quite fancy the royals retrim.

I think that should work. Would only take 5 mins to find out.

This is the clock spring from the M sport wheel.

One of the yellow connectors goes into the airbag and the other under the steering wheel.

And this is the one from my existing wheel, I've got connectors under the steering wheel that the white and orange plugs pop into. The yellow and brown connectors go into the airbag.

Has anyone fitted a face lift steering wheel to a pre facelift car?

I put the tonneau on ebay last night and it sold for £120 within 5 minutes of me putting it on. I'm amazed by how expensive they are!
