Hello! I'm new to the forum, but have been avidly reading all the technical and how-to information I can for the last few months.

My wife and I picked up our titanium silver 2.5i in May. A buddy of mine was selling as he only has space and need for a single car, and my wife and I both wanted a manual fun car/weekend car. It has some cosmetic scrapes and door dings but mechanically has been well looked after. We turned over 80k miles driving it home.

So far all I've done to it is add 20mm spacers and longer studs to the rear wheels to bring them out more even with the fenders (the sticker, pictured, came with the car). But I've got lots of plans for what comes next.

If you don't already have a code reader in your toolbox best invest in one, I can reccomend a Creator 310+ or their later 410 model but you will need a BMW 20pin to 16pin OBD2 cable changer to plug it in to the round Pac-man diagnostic socket in the engine bay. If you have the 16pin OBD2 socket under the steering wheel ythat will only read engine and transmission modules, the round socket will read all modules on the car hence the need for the cable changer. Scanner and cable available on ebay and Amazon.

Thanks for the suggestions. Definitely don't have one of those yet, just a generic OBD2 reader that connects to a phone app that I've used on other cars. I'll look into it!

Cool! I'm an East Coast kid originally, but now in my second year living in Tacoma and really loving the Sound.

I grew us south of there in Steilacoom and later worked at Tacoma Boat building in the port but that closed down over thirty years ago now.
