I don't know how I missed seeing this website in the past, but glad I could join tonight.
My first Z3 was a 1998 roadster with 4 cylinder and manual transmission. Owned from 2010 - 2013
Current Z3 is 1998 M Roadster. Owned since 2013. I'm chasing a fuel problem using Robert Bentley manual and Pelican Parts tech forum for guidance. Fuses 13 & 18 are good, but I forgot to check the voltages at these fuses. There is no voltage at the fuel pump connector, but the ground is good.
Pulled the fuel pump relay (under dash / above the kick panel) and the contacts were dirty. Disassembled the relay and did not find any signs of heat damage and the relay contacts are clean. I am going to replace it anyway, but I'm having a terrible time getting the new one inserted in the socket. There isn't enough room to contort my hand and position the relay for insertion. There has to be a "trick" for insertion? Can the mating socket be removed from the white plastic mounting surface by sliding the socket upwards? I pulled the two adjacent relays for more room, but still no joy.
Also, Peake Research tool did not display any codes. The car starts and runs normal using ether/starting fluid.
Thank you for your help & suggestions.
