Hi folks,

Just to introduce myself, my name is Andrew from the North West Highlands of Scotland and I hope to be a proud owner of a 6 cylinder Z3 this year. It has always been a dream car for me to own since seeing it introduced when I was a teenager. Depreciation has now allowed me to at last purchase one although I know they are staring to go back up now in value. I realise I am on the limit height wise to fit in one comfortably at 6ft 2in but I love the car so much I just have to have one. I am keeping an eye out for a 2.0 or 2.2 with a beige interior, wish me luck and I look forward to joining in with the community later in the year with a picture of my pride and joy. Thank you for all the information everyone has posted as it has helped me greatly in my decision making process.

Cheers.

Hi Andrew and welcome. I'm 6ft 1 and have no trouble at all. Personally I'd hang out for a 2.2 or 2.8 if possible. The 2.0 for a 6 cylinder is a bit flat by all accounts, the 2.2 I know is a great engine. They all run very similar MPG so dont be put off by the bigger engines.

Thanks for the welcome and information, a 2.2 would be my first choice I have a lot of single track roads up here and I like going through the gears so I don't particularly need loads of torque.

Hi Andrew welcome to the forum. The 2.2 engined zeds are usually better spec'd from standard in terms of levels of trim, sports seats etc and there's no need to be concerned about your height either, these little cars are very roomy for the driver, mainly because the back of the drivers seat is directly against the bulkhead for the boot

Thanks for that and you are right about not many in Scotland I am looking throughout the country and I shall organise a transporter if it is very far afield which I have done in the past. Other than Auto Trader are there any other good sites to find them on?

If you have the time to look, i would extend your search to include Gumtree and facebook marketplace. Its not a traditional way to search but there can be some really good value on here. A sign of the times really... Might be worth having a look at flights to the area as well and a drive back. Drove from Cambridge area to Glasgow to get mine home. Really good fun driving it home but the NW highlands is a different undertaking.

Hi @Andrew McClelland, :welcome: to the forum from me too in Staffordshire. I can certainly vouch for the 2.2. I've been on a few runs and never found it lacking in power. Mine's a sport so as Jack says it's very well specced.

Wouldn't swap my 2.8 for anything!....... Well, maybe a nice 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS in Blue with Tan leather interior. Any offers?

:drinks:

Bonzo.

ps Went out for a lovely top down drive yesterday. Took a wrong turning for Tesco, wasn't safe to turn around so had to go the long way around! :coolsteer)

I see a lot down London way and I am preparing an itinerary to drive it back and seeing some country I've never seen before on the way. I'll take a weeks holiday to do it. Flights are cheap from Inverness and there will hopefully be more well kept versions free from rust.
Thanks for the information and I will broaden my ways of searching, I am just a bit wary of buying privately.
