Reading it in black and white it says 'We will phase out all non- zero emission road vehicles, from motorbikes to HGVs, by 2040''

Personally I cant see it happening due to the classic car and vintage market being worth billions. Will we be required to fit de carbonising equipment to our older cars I wonder.

Me neither. That said, I'll be 80 so I'll be sat in my back garden dribbling down my bib and sat in a paddling pool of Guinness by then so probably wouldn't give two hoots. Happy and p*****, even if I don't know it.

You're correct Lee, classic cars will still be around for a while hopefully - it says phasing out of new vehicles by 2040.
However what we will see is many ICE cars priced off the roads as fuel becomes increasingly expensive. Supply will drop due to demand, increasing production costs.
I may be wrong but dont think folks will just go out for a drive for the pleasure of it. By that time electric vehicles will be so boring and sanitized to drive, if we are actually driving them at all.
At least we'll have the pictures and memories from the age of the motor car :coolsteer)

I will be 97 by then so I will probably have cut my mileage down a bit anyway. :)
Get out of it Mike, you'll still be leading the pack until they screw down the lid on yer box

I still cant see this happening owning and using a car is one of last vestages of freedom that the man and woman in the street has and the classic car market the customizing market and tuning market contribute billions to the economy not to mention the number of jobs they create , i still think there are plans afoot to produce a ultra green zero polluting fuel

They're aiming for that in F1 so it will hopefully trickle down to the enthusiast. It will not be cheap though.

Having just glanced through the Government report there are a lot of ifs buts and we would like but no hard and fast facts and one thing that is nt taken into account is peoples reluctance to give away the freedom that owning a motor vehicle gives them , its fine doing it in this country but can you see it happening in america and such like
