After about 5 years of saying I was going to do it, I finally have! It's a 7 piece, lead and rhythm guitars, bass, sax, keys, lead singer and me on the drums. We only finalised the lineup mid April and we have our first gig the day after tomorrow, 12th. We only have an hours worth of numbers at the moment but we are playing at the Aylsham u3a 40th anniversary picnic, along with a a girl singer doing another hour. We play 60s and 70s material, familiar to all, but with some strong numbers, such as, 'All Or Nothing' (Small Faces) and 'Out Of Time' (Chris Farlowe) as well as some Soulful stuff too. We have another 1 hour gig on the 29th July at the Artisan Cafe in Alby Norfolk. This is open to all, so if you fancy it come along and say hello and enjoy live music, burgers etc. and drinks. Kick Off around 7.00pm. ....Oh yes the band is called BACKTRACKIN'

Alby is not far from Baddersfield where my son lives…..mmmm????

Live drummers are much better than electronic ones ( like I have to use). And ….electronic ones never buy a round of drinks =))

Hope I can get up to the gig

I want to wish you the very best of luck with the new band Bonzo 🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻

Yeah, but with drum machines you only have to punch the song info in once! And they won't come onto your girlfriend....or your mother!

ONCE….????? I wish !!!!

Hi all, thanks for your good wishes, the gig went very well! Tested positive for covid this morning after feeling really rough last night. Had to get it sometime I suppose! Not good timing though, wife's birthday tomorrow! :(

The Alby outdoor gig was amazing. They were only expecting up to 150 punters max, but they reckon it was nigh on 300! The power of social media I suppose. The Cafe ran out of food, before all were fed, and cars were parked along the A140, on adjoining properties and across the road on the campsite and caravan park. We had lots of folks up dancing and lots of positive comments, and it was only ours second gig! The Cafe wanted us back the following month, (August) but following complaints to the Cafe's landlord about the illegal parking, an overflow car park had to be arranged. This was a field owned by the Cafe Landlord. He said that the Cafe owner that he would have to arrange fire insurance, (remember when all the grass was brown and dried up?) as he had crops growing nearby. The insurance company wanted the field mown and grass removed, fire marshal points, cable free lighting, proper sineage and parking marshals. Well the Cafe owner couldn't afford all that, so the gig was cancelled. The Cafe owner did give us a cancellation fee though, which was really good of him. So spring / summer will see us back there, this time with a ticketed entry. We have been rehearsing new material obviously, and our next gig is in Aylsham Town Hall on Saturday 21st January. That's us below!

Yeah, quite a mix of material in that set list. I'm more of a Rock and Blues man at heart, but I don't mind good lighter stuff, and always up for some soul. I have the final say on what we do, but am happy to indulge some of the other bandmates suggestions! We have a big u3a following, so had to leave the Gary Moore cuts down in Sussex and play more widely known stuff. Our new material includes 'Little Red Rooster, 'Red House' and 'Born to be Wild.' And yes, I DO love it!

Filled Aylsham Town Hall with 150 odd punters last Saturday evening, doing a fund raising gig for The Aylsham Christmas lights committee. A stonking gig, dancing from the get go, fabulous crowd. I heard someone say " That drummer, he's 74 you know!" I'll see if I can find any pics of it.
