Spotted these two beauties on the A149 heading towards Kings Lynn, from a distance they looked like Jaguar D Types, not so! Looked them up when we got home. They are Triumph Sammio Spyder Kit cars. they did look good though, Knock on wire wheels, a bit of body shake, but hardly noticeable, no doors of course! The front one sounded as though his timing was slightly out or was over fueling, couple of backfires!!! The rear one ran as sweet as a nut.

Here are some pics Sandy took, so that you can see them too!

Those were the days when the UK could build beautiful cars, wonder if you can get a kit of a C Type?

Reckon you can Mike, you can get a kit for just about anything these days. Not many really good kits though. Most look a bit rubbish to be honest. but some like these really do hit the mark. When I first saw them, I couldn't be sure what they were, took quite a bit of research to find them. If you look on youtube there is a video of these two cars. I do like the style of the old Jags though. especially the C and D types.

Would love something like that, modern cars bore the hell out of me, had a V6 Merc, could not be bothered to find out what all the knobs, buttons and other gizmos did, the ex drove it more than me.
Wish I still had my 1966 SWB Land Rover.

Oh, and the Merc did not even have a dip stick, who wants to go through the OBC to find out your oil level?

Reminds me of my wife's car, an Isuzu Rodeo with automatic transmission. There is no dip stick to check the transmission fluid. If you want to check it, you have to get under the car and remove a fill plug and inject transmission fluid until it starts to pour back out when the level of fluid is high enough to reach the height of the fill hole. What can these engineers who design these units be possibly thinking? There should be a rule that design engineers must work as mechanics for 5 years before they're allowed to pick up a pencil. That would make all of our lives much simpler......................Frankie

Sure you can afford the Land Rover. I have just seen what my son has paid for a genuine 1957 wheel ,never been used. It really does make a Z3 look bargain basement. I haven cut up series 1s to make comp motors in the past.

Probably not any more, bought mine back in the mid 80's for peanuts and it was LHD.
Spare wheel on the bonnet.
Heater the size of a mini power station, lovely.
Foot button next to the accelerator for high beam/low beam.
Had to revers park up against a wall as you could not lock the rear door.
Always had a lump hammer with me for the starter motor.
Wish I still had it.......:(

Out in sons yesterday
Heater no trouble it ain't got one
Spare wheel not on bonnet ,in the garage, but all fitting in place
Not bothered about high/low beam lights --- you need to get out to have a look if they are on or not.
No trouble with rear door----- it's a truck cab.
And those fantastic engine bays, where you can actually swing a hammer when the starter jam.
Wish I still had it------------
While out was looking at an 80" that was I remember being cut up in about 1990 to get a Range Rover v8 in complete with the auto box,and full roll cage, not happy with that the owner decided to do away with the leaf springs and coil it. First time we ever saw that done. He sold it a few years later, but years pass on and his son bought it back , updated to a bigger v8 and the much later auto box. Now still competing with it locally.
He wished dad still had it ----- so went out and found the it.
His dad still enjoys his toys ,at present has a Kenelworth for play time.
