As many of you will be aware, Ash's family and friends said their goodbyes to him today.
I joined them for the church service and now I have had time to reflect would like to recall some of the day's moments for you.
The church was full, with barely a seat to be had.
He had been a fan of "The Royle Family" so was carried in to the strains of the theme tune "Half the World Away" by Oasis.
Amanda gave a personal, very moving and amusing tribute to Ash. She spoke of his friendship with the Zroadster community and reminded us all of her seat-breaking episode at the March meet. Cue laughter all around. The strength Amanda showed in paying her tribute was truly inspiring.
Ash's mum Karen's personal tribute was a playing of "How Long Will I Love You" by Ellie Goulding.
There were also tributes, a song and a poem from Ash's friends before the service came to a close and he was carried out to the strains of one of his favourite TV shows.......... "Only Fools and Horses". No laughter but plenty of quiet, reflective smiles.
In addition to our floral tribute I left a card on behalf of the forum members. It contained several sheets onto which I had copied the names and messages from all of you who had posted on the various threads about Ash's passing.
Sadly I didn't get chance to speak to Amanda or Karen but could see they have the support of their families and many friends.
Ash was fond of a drink so I am raising a glass to him tonight and I hope you will too.
