New member here. I have been lurking for a few days trying to get a feel for the place, searching for the answer to my first quandery with my new rides. Recently retired, and in the space of about 3 weeks, have picked up my first ever BMW's , 1998 2.8L for her, and a 2001 3.0L for me. both 5 speeds ,of course. LOVE THEM. Since we parted ways with our motorcycles about a year ago,we have had no road joy. Now, well, lets just say its back.!!! These cars are a total blast. Due to their age, tho, I have already replaced a brake light, a third brake light bulb, an instrument cluster bulb,2 air filters, and 3 seat rail bushings. which brings me to my quandery. Everybody knows about seat rail bushings, but it seems no one has had bad "drive cables", also known as "flexable shafts'. the little 4inch long piece that connects the kabobs to the seat motors. my passenger seat drive cables were shredded. the wifes car both seats looked great. my drivers seat had been done before I got the car. I have been up to the dealer,no help. I ordered the bag of shafts [item 4] on the realoem site. those arent the ones. any help would be appreciated, and I'm looking forward to learning a mlot more about these incredibly fun cars!!
