Kicking off the new season in the shed we took in Gina’s 3.0. It’s a 51k mile 3.0 with exceptional history from the island of Jersey. The biggest benefit of this is they don’t salt roads out there so it’s going to be very clean and lacking corrosion.

Quick walk round. Just some nasty badges and very stock wheels.

we also noticed the typical rocking seats and both door cards lacking in handles.

typical totally shot beam bushes offering no support. There should be a finger sized gap between the plate and bottom of bush.

Part 2.

The guys made a start removing the back end while I was away doing daddy duties. They make it look easy even when I’m not about.

First job is always to remove the exhaust, always made difficult with this style of exhaust on the 2.2 & 3.0.

only one had to be cut but all will be slotted and removed to future proof.

next up the guys made very easy work dropping the subframe complete on our new assembly table.

Guys said every nut n bolt came out with no issues.

Next up the guys started stripping down the rear end. First up showing the rear beam bushes totally shot

moving onto the following day we started stripping the front.

while that was going on the guys in stores starting cleaning up the diff. Came up so well.

always worth doing the front subframe. So we fitted the engine brace. New engine mounts also to go on.

Not seen much on the main chassis with the E85 but the bolt on body parts we see holes.

While we wait for parts to arrive from the main land we did some cleaning and future proofing.

we also removed the exhaust studs to make future exhaust removal so much easier.

we did have a casualty today. The club hammer I’ve had man & boy died! Luckily the head came off on the back stroke.

were also waiting on the metal work to come back from the powder coaters. Watch this space.

I had a similar issue with a 14lb sledge hammer some years ago Lee. Glad to hear you were as lucky as I was. But it seemed to take ages before it came down.

And if anyone thought these refurbs were easy
I have a video from today of Lee, Trev and Gaz removing a bearing from a trailing arm . Without the right tooling and knowing how to do it these bearings would be almost impossible to remove.
If I knew how , I would put the video up… but dont do this computer stuff!!!

Did he smash the hub out using the old nut and a 1/2" drive extension...

I had similar thing happen with a hammer I had from when I was working at ICI in 70s, couldn't bear to part with so got new hammer shaft from Amazon. They do all sorts of sizes, cheap aswell. Seemed to be the only place that stocked them as every other local outlet just wanted to sell complete hammers. :thumbsup:
