Yeah come to think of it I'd rather walk =))
Ha,ha. Me too mate, I used to work on that crap some years ago. A Cossack Niva, what a treasure that was. Very sad to realise that to some folk over in the frozen wastes of the CCCP these sheds were something to aspire to.:(

Only thing is most of them are still going strong and driving aroundover there today. They are patched up and fixed anyway possible. We have it good really compared to some.

You are so right, Tony. The wife and I went over to Cuba some ten years ago, some of the cars seen were obviously the owner's pride and joy. Others were cobbled together out of a mix of cars, but somehow worked! I think it is mandatory for all homes to have welding gear and a hammer:D.
A truly wonderful experience not to be missed.
Colin.

I remember seeing a documentary about Cuba and they visited some of the car "repair" places. One particular memory that stands out was a guy going to see one of the backstreet shops to get a new body panel for an old American classic car. The panels were no longer available so the guys in the shop cut the roof off another old car and made one from scratch. The guys doing the documentary were enthusing about the skills of these guys who were mainly self taught. Great to watch.
