Can the centre of the knob under the clear acrylic be replaced?
The actual gear knob is in good condition otherwise.
Not sure if it is

Think they are glued on. Have you found a replacement? A good example of BMW destroying their M brand for short term gain.

The clear acrylic comes off, it was just stuck down with tape on my old one, which was really unsightly. You can get badges on eBay but I don't think BMW sell them. The Chrome line gear knob isn't available from BMW anymore either and are hideously expensive on the very rare occasions that new old stock pops up.

My old gear knob eventually disintegrated (literally broke in two!) but I lucked out massively with a second hand one in excellent condition off eBay for £25.

You have the original gear knob that was part of the Chrome line trim option ticked by the first owner, as can see the rest of the trim option around your dials.

Got the new one. Can’t see how the old one comes off as it sits snuggly on top of the gear knob

Couple of very small screw drivers and tease it out gently. Use electrical tape around the chrome to stop it getting damaged.
