Having run through wash today (don’t judge we have good soft cloth wash in Indy)… I noticed my gas door had 2-3” standing water and no drain? When I pushed the gasket to drain, it runs out the quarter panel at door jamb. Has anyone else noticed and put in a drain hose, like most cars have? Curious.

There is a factory fitted small drain right at the inner bottom of the rubber boot around the filler. It often blocks up with fine dust and is hard to see to clear it.

A length of trimmer line is ideal for unblocking the fuel filler drain. Just make sure the end is rounded and not a sharp end.

Far simpler and easier to clear it downwards. That's how I did my Z3.

I will give it a shot downward. Pushing downward seemed like passing a kidney stone. I was hoping to poke it back into boot and clean it away.

The car came from California and had been near a beach it appears from clues found over time.
