i have a 2006 e85 6 speed manual 70 000 have been thinking about g/box & diff oil change for some time a lot of you agree it must be done but a lot point out filled for life & nothing to gain had g/box oil changed the difference is fantastic smooth & easy gear change £20 for oil castrol transmax FE 75 W £20 for guy to do it my advice for what it worth get it done. the guy would not attempt the diff as no drain but after the g/box im going to do it myself

Filled for life is an interesting term as no one tells you what "life" actually refers to. No harm at all in changing it whenever you feel you needs it, I'll be changing mine every couple of years as I've always done on Zeds.

hi gaz that's what i thought but daft as it sounds there aint no drain having no dipstick on the engine is also strange with the dipstick you know where you are & oil & filter change is clean & easy with a oil pump.
Same applies to Auto box oil, it makes a big difference especially when done with a filter change.

If I remember correctly on the e85 the drain is on the right side of the diff and the fill is on the rear. Or the other way around, but one is on the side.
thanks for that ive been debating how long life was three score and ten so the bible is correct.
yes i know should be but e85 is not the only model with no drain has to be sucked out. looking at it the only prob. is getting at the fill plug behind the roll bar may have to move that as well
FWIW my old Jeep diff (amc20) also has no drain plug, you have to remove the whole cover, clean it out, new gasket (or rtv, or both) rebolt the cover, and then refill... a messy pain, but it gives you a chance to inspect everything while you are in there. Is that how the e85 works?
no not really the advice advice ive had dont take the cover off vac. the oil out dont suppose it will get it all out but better than not doing it

Strange the 2003 E85 we had in last Saturday had a drain on the Diff.

Yes not the same car 6 not 5 speed box n52 engine & of cause diff.
Still, I’d really consider pulling the whole cover off and making sure you get all the little metal fillings and dirt particles out from the bottom. It also gives you a chance to clean up the cover, make sure the vent is working properly, and replacing the probably squashed diff bushings. Just a suggestion
