They are still available new but quite expensive. Not easy to replace without a lot of dismantling. I replaced mine but had to cut the large one in half and fitted it in two pieces repairing it in situ with a small metal plate.

Hi Acousticplayer
Yes I can see that they would be very difficult if not impossible to change if you were trying to do it with out taking all the back axle beam and all the rear suspension which is what I'm in the middle of doing hence the reason for doing them while I've got plenty of room under there. But thanks for info any way.

Yes can help with a pair. Although sound and un-rotten they would benefit from either shot blasting or going over with a rotary wire brush on a drill. Just sold a pair on Tuesday too!

Do you still have a decent UK drivers’ side strap for sale?

What are the rogues at BMW charging for these as a matter of interest?

Definitely something that I would make myself. I'd expect change from £10 and the pleasure of knowing that I made it myself.

I agree with @Acousticplayer about cutting in half and remaking from two shorter sections. You need about 4ft of clearance to get them off in one piece. Easy with a lift or a pit, but next to impossible on your back on a drive.

BMW have stock of the left passenger side - changed mine last night - took about an hour. Cost £12.46 with my discount included. The longer one is out of stock on back order and will not be delivered until March 2018. BMW AG are out to tender for new fabrications and will have samples back in the January/February time frame for quality control and if ok expect stock in March. The longer one will cost £22.68 after discount. The right hand side can be changed without dropping the sub frame on your back on the drive if raised up well on axle stands as long as you bend it a bit and have patience. No need to cut. I have removed mine, re rubbered it and refitted it. I used a roll of self adhesive rubber that is better quality than BMW’s rubber and I used a continuous length along the whole strap. I do however want to replace it as it was rusty and after shot blasting and painting it is thinner and weaker than it should be.
