Hi All,
I finally find a really nice car, and before I can get it on the road (will be Taxed and Insured from Aug1st) I immediately run into snags. So - - am back to asking for 'Help'!
My wife was sitting in the car and operating the electric drivers seat to try it for size and jammed it fully forward!. I have been reading loads of literature about how to free the motor or shaft up, but simply cannot see how to reach the front seat bolts? I will be undoing the rear bolts tomorrow and see if 'tipping' the seat forward gives me more room, and also try 'tapping' the front (?) motor to see if that does anything. (Can't work on the car in my garage there is barely room to open the darn door, and outside it's rain after rain here on my gravel drive in Norfolk, but tomorrow looks better!) So - - anyone have any other ideas which might help please?

Second issue is that the Seller said that the separate Immobilisor/Alarm (it's a March 1998) Fob never worked. I just put a new battery in it and the red light came on, but pressing the buttons seems to do nothing. There is a small 'key' with the Fob - where might that fit, and might that turn the Alarm On/Off??
As you can imagine this is one VERY frustrated new Owner, and now I can't even GET IN the darn car to drive it as I am too long-legged!!!!!!!!!!!! (Stop laughing!)
Regards, Richard

Try unplugging the motor that moves the seat back and forth, in is located under the seat in the front of the seat, and apply 12V with some power device, I have used in the past an old laptop charger, remove the connector, peel the cables and off you go, that will alow you to see if the motor works or not. if it works move at your will, but the problem will lie elsewhere, fuses cables, etc. If it doesn´t it is possible with a bit of patience to remove the motor in situ and fit a new one, you will need small hands and cursing abilities, but its doable.

If the key is like the one in the photo, it turns the alarm off when you disconnect the main car battery.
The alarm fob probably need programming to the car.

Thanks Geoff, Looks like I have work to do, but so relieved that yesterday morning I managed to 'unjam' the driver seat which was jammed fully forward when my wife was testing the seat for size. A block of wood and a hammer on the motor fixed that though! BUT -I do seem to still have ANOTHER problem as after fiddling with the immobilisor key 'on and off' with nothing much happening, when I went to the car late yesterday the (only two weeks old) battery was completely flat! Charged it up overnight, and this morning it has started the car ok, but time will tell.
Could it be somehow linked to trying to operate the immobilisor, or ??. I did not touch the underseat wiring at al when working on the seat, so trust it's not due to that.
Also need to get second ignition key, but only 'quote' so far was for £115!
Old cars, eh??

Cheers, Richard

Check that seat motor isn't to blame, my seat controls were jammed and it drained my battery

Thanks Mario, I manaed to free up the jam following suggestions to 'thump' the motor carefully,. Did that, and hey presto, it works. Was careful not to disturb any underseat wiring, so hope that a current (Awful pun!) problem with suddenly flat battery isnpt down to that! Cheers, Richard

I seem to remember that a while ago Robert (mrscalex) on this forum had a contact for replacement keys at a reasonable cost but maybe wrong. Geoff
