Front Wing Replacement?

As a Forum 'newbie' I am still trying to navigate my way around so apologies if I've posted this in the wrong area... My 2000 Z3 2.8 has the most amazing engine however it is needing a couple of replacement body panels in the not too distant future. The one that needs replacing asap is the passenger front wing immediately behind the wheel which is rusting in the bottom left corner quite severely. Can anyone offer any advice on how this can be taken off and how to affix the new panel? Many thanks in advance...

Nice and easy job. 3 bolts at the top and one at the bottom and inside the door, ie remove with door open. Pop the indicator unit out.

Get it aligned with surrounding panels before bolting tight.

You might want to have the sill covers and arch liners out at the same tight to give it a spring clean. The silt that gets behind the sill covers and onto the chassis is a Zed killer.

It's really very easy.

1. Detach the side repeater from the wing, this can be pushed to one side which will compress the spring and release the repeater.

2. Open the car door and make sure it is secured so that the door cannot be closed. I placed a chair against the door so that it wouldn't shut.

3. Behind the car door there is a bolt that secures the wing, I believe that it's an 8mm

4. Remove the wheel arch liner, this is probably the most difficult part of the entire process. It's held in by several 8mm screws... There are also two 10mm plastic nuts under the car that secure the liner in place. Careful when removing these. They have a tendency to shear off the threads when you do remove them.

5. Two 8mm screws that can be accessed from under the bonnet, remove these.

6. There should be an 8mm screw behind the wheel arch liner, if you remove this then the wing should just come out.

I'm at work right now but should be able to get you some pictures after I've finished.

Brilliant - many, many thanks for this - very much appreciated... Is this simple enough to be done on the driveway? I am not world's best mechanic/techie bloke...

Nearly but not quite  two on the top -open bonnet. two on the bottom, one accessed by opening the door and removing via the gap between the door and inner wing, and one at the front lower accessed by removing the wheel arch liner. (at least that's how they're attached on mine ;))

Yes good point about the one under the wheel arch liner. I've never removed a wing without taking the liners off at the same time (before) which is why I forgot. Which was a bit naughty of me really as it's that one that will give you the agro but only because of the extra step of removing the liner. In turn I've never removed liners without removing the front bumper while I'm at it. It all comes off once I start...
