Turns out that I very likely have a broken front spring. Perhaps I pushed a little too much after changing the rear shocks -- or it was just waiting to break anyway. Symptoms is that I 'touch' on almost every bump on the road, and it seems to be getting worse...

I'm looking to buy springs, however, I really have no idea what to buy! Problem is, I also need them before saturday, as my MOT is monday!

So, suggestions, links, etc would be VERY welcome, I probably need to order this tonight or tomorrow if I want them in time. Car doesn't have sport suspensions. I'm not thinking of lowering it (yet) either... So good quality, normal would do me...

Well, it's started to 'rub' the tyre into the arch as soon as I take a bump on that side. Also, visual inspection I have about 3 finger's width of space between the wheel arch and the tyre on the driver side, and about 2 on the passenger side. So it's lower that side.

I *know* there is a bit pothole on the outside of a right hand corner on my way back from work, and I did whack it a couple of times (I have to really, road is narrow, and there was incoming traffic) and it probably triggered that...

Broken springs on all makes of car are extremely common these days. My VW Touran had one go recently. My garage man says he changes several springs every week.

If you need it quick go to your local Andrew Page or European Car Parts (ECP) a basic cheap? spring will be available. Just fit one and consider your options after getting it tested.

Well, I ordered 2 SASH ones from ebay (previous link) -- they should be arriving tomorrow, so I SHOULD be fine.

Funnily enough that ebay link is from ECP -- however the springs are a LOT cheaper than what they have on their official website...

ECP prices are just a con to get people to use the offer days, we use them through the trade and pay in the region of 20% of the website price

Honestly avoid ECP where you can. They're pricing is pathetic with all the fake savings.

They are also hopelessly slow at serving in the store.

I just discovered Andrew Page (national chain). They weren't cheap but in an emergency I'd rather walk straight in and out and pay a few quid more.

Otherwise all my stuff comes off eBay or a lot of the time from the BMW dealer for small parts.

Well actually I received the springs via DHL today, so perhaps their 'ebay' department is quicker than the store ones!

Andrew Page noted tho.. thanks

Is that 20% of the price or 20% off the price ?

I've just done a search on their web site. My nearest branch is about 80 miles away :(. ECP is 8 miles away.
