My front cover is badly chipped, and the underside is severely scraped (separating) from hitting concrete wheel stops, and curbs. I have been reading how-to articles regarding removal and replacement of the cover. There are several covers listed on-line at a reasonable cost and Pelican Parts has pictures describing how-to remove the cover. Whether repaired or replaced, both will need to be painted.

Has anyone actually removed the cover? Is it as simple as suggested? What is behind the bottom-most part of the cover that scrapes on the curb? (Below the lower grille opening) Is there a metal structural member there that the cover wraps around?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

It is pretty much hollow.

The bumper support bar runs the width of the bumper roughly where the number plate goes, the lower region which ctahces on high curbs and speed bumps has nothing inside, it attaches to the lower engine cover (black plastic s*** tray)

You can remove the cover from the metal bar, it is riveted on with metal rivets through very delicate/fragile/easily damaged eyelets.

Hope that helps

Can post picture tomorrow if you want?

Although it is a bigger part on the zed, and therefore it is fixed at a lot of points.
But it is very straight forward to remove and refit

Hi felt,

Minor change from above, my memory isn't what it used to be!

The rivets are the 2 piece plastic ones not metal.

Photos of a 2.8 front bumper and 2.0 rear bumper

These are of the rear bumper as someone else was asking....

Hope that helps
